Speaker A:Prepare to be blessed.
Speaker A:As pastor and teacher, Robert Thibodeau leads us into the anointed study of the Word of God, teaching and empowering you how to impact your world with the gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching you how to receive the blessings and provisions of God.
Speaker A:And how to walk through this life with freedom through faith.
Speaker A:And now, here's Pastor Robert Thibodeau.
Speaker B:Hello, everyone, everywhere.
Speaker B:Pastor Bob Thibodeau here.
Speaker B:Welcome to Freedom Through Faith.
Speaker B:Glory to God.
Speaker B:We're so blessed you're joining us here today.
Speaker B:We're gonna have a great time around the Word of the Lord today.
Speaker B:I just know it.
Speaker B:I've been waiting for today.
Speaker B:Oh, praise you, Jesus.
Speaker B:Thank you, Lord.
Speaker B:Let's go over with a word of prayer so we can get started.
Speaker B:Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before your throne of grace and mercy this day.
Speaker B:Praising you for our salvation, praising you for the gift of everlasting life.
Speaker B:And praising you for the technology you made available for us to gather together around the Word of God and just encourage each other Today.
Speaker B:Today is the day of salvation for someone somewhere listening to this broadcast.
Speaker B:And we just give you praise, honor and glory for it all in Jesus name, Amen and Amen.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:Join me in our profession of faith, commonly referred to as the Apostles Creed.
Speaker B:We haven't done this in a little while.
Speaker B:I want to do this today just to lay the solid foundation upon which we're going to build.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Just repeat these words with me out loud.
Speaker B:Loud enough for your own two ears to hear.
Speaker B:I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried.
Speaker B:He descended into hell.
Speaker B:But the third day he rose again from the dead.
Speaker B:He ascended up into heaven and is seated right now at the right hand of the God, the Father Almighty, from where he is about to return to judge the living and the dead.
Speaker B:I believe in the Holy Spirit.
Speaker B:I believe the church is the body of Christ.
Speaker B:I believe in the communion of saints.
Speaker B:I believe in the forgiveness of sins.
Speaker B:Thank you, Jesus.
Speaker B:I believe in the resurrection of the body.
Speaker B:And I believe in life everlasting.
Speaker B:In Jesus, mighty name we pray.
Speaker B:Amen and Amen.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:If you got your Bibles, go get them because you're gonna need them today.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:We are gonna have a great time.
Speaker B:I want to talk to you today about bringing the church back to Jesus.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Now let's get one thing straight right from the very start, okay?
Speaker B:If we claim to follow Jesus, we better be following his words.
Speaker B:Not just quoting them, not just putting them in a coffee mug, but actually obeying them.
Speaker B:And I mean all of them.
Speaker B:Not just the parts we like, not just the part that makes us feel good, but everything he commanded us.
Speaker B:Now here's the problem.
Speaker B:The modern church for the most part, has drifted away from the red letter words of Jesus.
Speaker B:Instead of preaching what Jesus actually said, we hear sermons on self help, prosperity, moral improvements, and of course the religious traditions.
Speaker B:Instead of boldly proclaiming the kingdom of God, we get messages on how to live our best life, how or be a better you.
Speaker B:Instead of walking in the supernatural power, Jesus promised healing the sick, casting out demons, raising the dead.
Speaker B:We become comfortable with basically powerless Christianity.
Speaker B:Here's the kicker.
Speaker B:This drift away from Jesus words is not new.
Speaker B:Jesus warned us this would happen.
Speaker B:He said, many will say to me in that day, lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name?
Speaker B:Then we cast out demons in your name?
Speaker B:Didn't we do miracles in your name?
Speaker B:And I'm going to tell them very plainly, I never knew you depart from me, you workers of lawless.
Speaker B:That's in Matthew, chapter 7, verses 22, 23.
Speaker B:Now if that doesn't make you sit up and pay attention, what we're going to talk about today, well, I don't know what will, because that means there are people who think they're serving Jesus.
Speaker B:People preaching in his name, doing works in his name.
Speaker B:But Jesus doesn't even know who they are.
Speaker B:Why?
Speaker B:Because they were not obeying what he said.
Speaker B:They were not obeying his words.
Speaker B:They're doing their own thing, folks.
Speaker B:The words of Jesus come directly from God.
Speaker B:Let me lay a foundation for what we're going to talk about today.
Speaker B:If you take one thing away from today's message, I want it to be this Jesus words are just not good advice.
Speaker B:They're not mere suggestions.
Speaker B:Jesus's words are the very words of God himself.
Speaker B:He didn't come to start a religion.
Speaker B:He didn't come to offer motivational speeches.
Speaker B:He came to say exactly what the Father told him to say.
Speaker B:I mean, he told his followers over and over and over, my teachings, not mine.
Speaker B:I mean, this is John chapter seven, right?
Speaker B:He says my teaching is not mine.
Speaker B:But who's who sent me the words I say to you?
Speaker B:I don't speak on my own, but the Father who dwells in me does his work.
Speaker B:That's John 14 for I have not spoken on my own, but the Father who sent me himself gave me a commandment about what to say and what to speak.
Speaker B:That's John 12, 49 and 50.
Speaker B:Do you see a pattern emerging here?
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Jesus was only saying what the Father told him to say.
Speaker B:So when we talk about the red letter words, folks, we're talking about the very words.
Speaker B:God the Father himself.
Speaker B:Oh, praise you, Jesus.
Speaker B:Here's the next key point.
Speaker B:Jesus then gave these words to who?
Speaker B:His disciples.
Speaker B:Which includes us, if you're a believer.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:I don't shout me down.
Speaker B:I'm preaching Good already.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:Jesus said in John, chapter 17, verse 8.
Speaker B:Want to go over there?
Speaker B:Let's go over there.
Speaker B:John, chapter 17.
Speaker B:Hallelujah.
Speaker B:Praise you, Lord Jesus.
Speaker B:Verse 8.
Speaker B:He says, For I have given them your word, which you gave to me.
Speaker B:They've received your word and they know surely I came out from you.
Speaker B:They believe that you did send me.
Speaker B:How much plainer can we make it?
Speaker B:Jesus said, for I gave them the disciples, including us, the words you gave me, and they accepted them.
Speaker B:So there is a divine chain of transmission.
Speaker B:God spoke to Jesus.
Speaker B:Jesus spoke to his disciples.
Speaker B:The disciples recorded it and preached those words to the world, including us.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:Jesus even made sure these words would be preserved.
Speaker B:He promised us that the Holy Spirit would remind the disciples of everything he said.
Speaker B:Matter of fact, turn over a couple pages to John chapter 14.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:I want.
Speaker B:I want you to put your eyes on this.
Speaker B:If you don't have your Bible, you're wrong already.
Speaker B:You should be coming to this study with Bible in hand.
Speaker B:You know, Pastor Bob, John chapter 14, verse 26 says, but the comforter, which is a Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he'll teach you all things and bring all things to remembrance whatsoever I've said unto you.
Speaker B:So what do we see here?
Speaker B:Well, that means that the words of Jesus as recorded in scripture, preserved and protected by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:That's important.
Speaker B:That.
Speaker B:That's what we.
Speaker B:That's what we're supposed to be talking about here.
Speaker B:I mean, let me ask you a question.
Speaker B:If God the Father gave Jesus these words, and if Jesus gave them to the disciples, and if the Holy Spirit preserved them so we could have access to them, why in the world are so many churches just ignoring them today?
Speaker B:Because that's exactly what's happening.
Speaker B:The modern church has shifted away from Jesus words.
Speaker B:Instead of preaching Jesus actual words, we've replaced them with theology and doctrinal Debates.
Speaker B:Instead of just obeying the words of Jesus, we argue over theological interpretations of the words of Jesus.
Speaker B:We have self help and motivational messages that you find in many churches today.
Speaker B:I mean, instead of, instead messages of deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me.
Speaker B:We get, oh, just live your best life.
Speaker B:Right now we have religious traditionalism.
Speaker B:That's what's being clung to.
Speaker B:Instead of following Jesus, we follow basically the traditions of men.
Speaker B:And folks.
Speaker B:This is not a small issue.
Speaker B:This is not a minor debate about church preferences.
Speaker B:You know, like do we take up the offering mid service or wait till the end of the service?
Speaker B:Do we take communion every Sunday or just every fifth Sunday?
Speaker B:This folks, this is a salvation issue.
Speaker B:Jesus said, heaven and earth will pass away.
Speaker B:My words will never pass away.
Speaker B: Matthew: Speaker B:That means his words stand what, forever?
Speaker B:Forever.
Speaker B:His words will judge the world, he said.
Speaker B:So we read it before John chapter.
Speaker B:Well, since we're in the book of John, let's go there.
Speaker B:John chapter 12, just a couple pages over.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:Put your eyes on it.
Speaker B:Put your eyes on it.
Speaker B:John chapter 12 is verse 48.
Speaker B:Hallelujah.
Speaker B:Oh, thank you, Jesus.
Speaker B:He says, Praise you, Jesus.
Speaker B:49 and 50.
Speaker B:48, 50.
Speaker B:He that rejects me and does not receive my words has someone who judges him already.
Speaker B:The words I have spoken the same shall judge him in the last day.
Speaker B:For I have not spoken of myself, but the Father which sent me.
Speaker B:He gave me a commandment what I should say and what I should speak.
Speaker B:And I know that his commandment is life everlasting whatsoever I speak.
Speaker B:Therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
Speaker B:He who rejects me does not receive my words.
Speaker B:He already has someone who judges him.
Speaker B:The words which I've spoken, that's what will judge him in the last day.
Speaker B:Now don't get mad at me.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:Jesus said that, not Pastor Bob.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Don't write me your ugly letters because I don't read them anyway.
Speaker B:Like I said last time, every word Jesus spoke was directly from God himself.
Speaker B:That means when we read Jesus's teachings, we're reading the pure, unfiltered will of God the Father himself.
Speaker B:No other biblical figure.
Speaker B:I said this last time.
Speaker B:No other big, not Moses, not David, not even Paul can claim that level of authority.
Speaker B:The words of Jesus are inspired by God alone.
Speaker B:Jesus was God is God, living in the flesh.
Speaker B:His words continue speaking directly to us today.
Speaker B:Just as valid, just as powerful as they were when he was walking with his disciples.
Speaker B:Ah, praise God.
Speaker B:You missed a good Place to shout Amen right there.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:His words.
Speaker B:His words will determine who is truly his disciple.
Speaker B:Jesus even warned that rejecting his words leads to destruction.
Speaker B:He said, why do you call me Lord, Lord, but don't do what I say.
Speaker B:Everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like foolish men who built their house on sand.
Speaker B:The rain came down, the storms rose up, the winds blew and beat against that house and it fell with a great crash.
Speaker B:We studied that before in Matthew chapter seven.
Speaker B:But that's exactly, exactly what we see happening today.
Speaker B:The modern church is collapsing around us because it's been built on sand of human wisdom instead of the rock of Jesus word.
Speaker B:Ah folks, it is time to return to the red letter words of Jesus.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Church, you have.
Speaker B:We have a decision to make.
Speaker B:Are we going to keep following the traditions of men?
Speaker B:Are we going to keep doing things just because that's the way we've always done them?
Speaker B:Are we going to keep watering down the gospel so we don't offend anyone?
Speaker B:Are you going to keep making excuses?
Speaker B:We already read?
Speaker B:Jesus isn't accepting your excuses.
Speaker B:Are we going to return to the words of Jesus?
Speaker B:Are we going to obey what Jesus said?
Speaker B:Obey them, preach them boldly?
Speaker B:Because here's what I know.
Speaker B:If we will return to Jesus words, revival will come.
Speaker B:How many churches been praying for revival?
Speaker B:Jesus said that revival will come when we preach his words.
Speaker B:If we return to Jesus words, then the power of God that's contained in those words will return to us.
Speaker B:It will return to your church.
Speaker B:It will inhabit your church.
Speaker B:If we return to Jesus's words, then we will be prepared for what?
Speaker B:His return.
Speaker B:Because he is coming back and it's going to be very soon.
Speaker B:And when he comes back, he's not looking for a lukewarm, compromising, half hearted church that doesn't want to offend anyone.
Speaker B:He's coming for a people who've been faithful to his words, who can put his words into action.
Speaker B:People who are not afraid to take a stand up on his word regardless of what other people say.
Speaker B:Oh praise God.
Speaker B:Don't shut me down.
Speaker B:I'm preaching.
Speaker B:Good.
Speaker B:My challenge to you Simple.
Speaker B:Oh yes Lord.
Speaker B:Will you return to the red letter words of Jesus?
Speaker B:That's the question only you can answer.
Speaker B:Will you study the red letter words of Jesus?
Speaker B:Will you preach the red letter words of Jesus?
Speaker B:Because that's what he told you to do, Pastor.
Speaker B:Will you preach them or you just want to put together your little make everybody feel good servants?
Speaker B:I Know I'm stepping all over toes today.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:But heaven and earth will pass away.
Speaker B:Jesus said his words will never pass away.
Speaker B:They stand forever.
Speaker B:Where do you want to be?
Speaker B:Something that passes away or something that will stand with Jesus forever?
Speaker B:Will you return to the red letter words of Jesus?
Speaker B:Will you study the red letter words of Jesus?
Speaker B:I dare say.
Speaker B:Whoo.
Speaker B:Okay, there are some pastors, ministers that haven't really studied the red letter words of Jesus in years.
Speaker B:Oh, you may use a quote every now and then in your sermons, but there are some people out there that have not done an in depth study of the words of Jesus.
Speaker B:The red letter words.
Speaker B:Why?
Speaker B:Why?
Speaker B:That's just not Pastor Bob asking that.
Speaker B:That's the Holy Spirit asking you why.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:Will you return to the red letter words?
Speaker B:Will you study them?
Speaker B:When you study, will you obey what you read?
Speaker B:Will you preach what you read?
Speaker B:Because heaven and earth will pass away.
Speaker B:But Jesus said his words will never pass away.
Speaker B:They stand forever.
Speaker B:So what does Jesus command us to do now that we've laid the groundwork, now that we've established that Jesus words came from, came directly from God of the Father, that his words are eternal, unchanging, and the foundations of true discipleship?
Speaker B:Well, we need to ask ourselves a couple critical questions.
Speaker B:What does Jesus actually command us to do?
Speaker B:Not what church traditions tell us to do.
Speaker B:Not what feels comfortable, not what fits into a neatly packaged Sunday 22 minute sermon.
Speaker B:What did Jesus himself say about this?
Speaker B:This is not a side issue, folks.
Speaker B:This is not something that we can afford to get wrong.
Speaker B:Jesus himself made it very clear.
Speaker B:He says in Luke 6:46, why do you call me Lord, Lord?
Speaker B:But don't do what I say, Period.
Speaker B:End of story.
Speaker B:That's a challenge, a direct call out by Jesus.
Speaker B:Jesus is not interested in giving lip service to what you're doing.
Speaker B:He isn't looking here for people who merely talk about following him.
Speaker B:He's looking in these last days for people who actually will obey what he said to do.
Speaker B:Oh, that's powerful.
Speaker B:And yet, yet we look at much of the modern church today, we have to admit we've drifted so far from Jesus commands.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Instead of building everything on his words, building on the rock, we build a mix of traditions, emotions, self help messages, basically powerless religion.
Speaker B:That's why when people come to church, they leave on almost the same exact condition they came in.
Speaker B:Oh, that was a good sermon, Pastor.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:See you next week.
Speaker B:And they walk out the door, you don't see people running down the aisles weeping at the altar.
Speaker B:Praise you Jesus.
Speaker B:I know this is stepping all over your spiritual toes today, but the question is, what did Jesus actually command us to do?
Speaker B:What should be our focus as his disciples?
Speaker B:That's what we're going to focus on today.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Because it's important that we get this right.
Speaker B:Jesus's first command, the first command he gave to the church was what?
Speaker B:Preach the kingdom of God.
Speaker B:If you ask most Christians today what was the central message of Jesus's ministry, you're going to get a whole mix of a variety of answers.
Speaker B:Some will say, oh love, love your love.
Speaker B:Others as you love yourself.
Speaker B:Some will say, oh, it's a message of grace.
Speaker B:Some will say salvation.
Speaker B:It's all about salvation.
Speaker B:And you know, while all of those are important, don't get me wrong, none of them was the main message Jesus preached.
Speaker B:His central message was always about the kingdom of God.
Speaker B:From the very beginning of his ministry, that was his focus.
Speaker B:He said Matthew 4:17 way in the very beginning.
Speaker B:Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come here.
Speaker B:He sent his disciples out with the exact same message.
Speaker B:As you go proclaim this message.
Speaker B:The kingdom of heaven has come near.
Speaker B:Matthew 10:7.
Speaker B:Even after his resurrection, for 40 days, Jesus continued teaching his disciples about what?
Speaker B:The kingdom of God.
Speaker B:Acts chapter one, verse three.
Speaker B:That was his mission.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Don't shut me down, I'm preaching good.
Speaker B:What do you hear in most churches today?
Speaker B:Instead of asking about the kingdom, instead of hearing about the kingdom, you'll hear about how to be a better person.
Speaker B:Instead of hearing about the rule and reign of God, we hear about how to live a happy life.
Speaker B:We've reduced the gospel down to a self help message.
Speaker B:Instead of proclaiming the reality of God's kingdom, or even worse, in some churches it's just the opposite.
Speaker B:Do what you can with what you have.
Speaker B:Just hold on and pray that you make it to heaven or pray that Jesus just hurry up and come back.
Speaker B:Get it all over with.
Speaker B:Folks.
Speaker B:The gospel is not just about going to heaven when you die.
Speaker B:Now that's, that's a, that's a benefit.
Speaker B:That's the main benefit.
Speaker B:But sharing the gospel is about establishing God's rule and reign on earth right here, right now.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:That means we have to live under the authority of Jesus, obey what he tells us to do, proclaiming his kingship to the world.
Speaker B:And when we do that, he gives us his authority to use his name in this earth.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:Oh thank you Jesus.
Speaker B:That's a good place to get a sip of Coffee.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:Now.
Speaker B:Oh, praise God.
Speaker B:Let me put it like this.
Speaker B:It's like a soldier going to war, okay?
Speaker B:That soldier has the authority to take the life of another person who's opposing him.
Speaker B:Now, he can't do it nilly Willy, okay?
Speaker B:He can't.
Speaker B:He can't go into a foreign land and just start shooting every foreigner he sees.
Speaker B:No, but when he identifies the enemy that's inhabiting that area, that's a different situation altogether.
Speaker B:If a soldier identifies that enemy soldier, and the situation is such that the soldier is now authorized to engage and destroy that enemy according to the orders he's operating under, all's well and good.
Speaker B:He's backed up by the full power of those that issued those orders.
Speaker B:So if we are living under the authority of Jesus, if we are using the authority of Jesus, which he's given to us, are we doing this in a way that reflects what his orders were and what they were meant for us to accomplish or not?
Speaker B:Let me ask you, are you truly preaching the kingdom of God or have we watered it down to our own standards?
Speaker B:What was Jesus second command for the church?
Speaker B:We know the first one was to preach the kingdom.
Speaker B:What's the second command he gave to the church?
Speaker B:To demonstrate the power of the kingdom of God.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:Let's.
Speaker B:Here's what this is, where a lot of churches just go silent like crickets in the night.
Speaker B:Jesus didn't just tell his disciples to preach the kingdom.
Speaker B:He told them to demonstrate it with his power, the power of God.
Speaker B:I mean, let's look at the exact command.
Speaker B:He said, as you go proclaim this message.
Speaker B:The kingdom of heaven has come near.
Speaker B:Then he said, Matthew 10, 7, 8, heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons.
Speaker B:Let me ask you something.
Speaker B:How many churches today are actually doing that in their Sunday services?
Speaker B:Where's the power?
Speaker B:Where's the supernatural?
Speaker B:Where's the demonstration of God's power of God's kingdom?
Speaker B:You read about it in the Bible.
Speaker B:We see it in Jesus's ministry.
Speaker B:We see it in the Book of Acts.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:Now, folks, again.
Speaker B:Yes, sir, Pastor.
Speaker B:If you want to see what a church is supposed to be doing, just read the Book of Acts.
Speaker B:I mean, I've been saying this for over 25 years.
Speaker B:Any church, any pastor, any minister of the gospel, including Brother Bob, that does not have any evidence of what the church in the Book of Acts was doing in their own life.
Speaker B:Ministry, church, whatever, it's not doing what they're supposed to be doing, period.
Speaker B:Now, don't look at me in that tone of voice.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:Don't get mad at me, you lying devil.
Speaker B:If you don't like what I just said, take it up with Jesus.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:The Holy Spirit is the one that just brought that out.
Speaker B:The book of Acts is what the church is supposed to be doing.
Speaker B:It's not the Holy Spirit that just brought conviction to your heart and mind.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:I mean, it is the Holy Spirit, I should say, that brought that conviction to your heart and mind, not Pastor Bob.
Speaker B:Don't shout me down.
Speaker B:I'm preaching good glory to God.
Speaker B:But most churches today, most churches today, I have to ask, where's the power?
Speaker B:Where's the miracles?
Speaker B:Where's the supernatural?
Speaker B:Where is it?
Speaker B:It's missing.
Speaker B:Why?
Speaker B:Because we've been taught that this command no longer applies.
Speaker B:Some say that was just for the early disciples.
Speaker B:Others will say, well, miracles ended with the apostles.
Speaker B:Some even say, we don't need supernatural power anymore because we have the Bible.
Speaker B:They didn't have the Bible.
Speaker B:We have the Bible.
Speaker B:Oh, praise you, Jesus, bringing all this out.
Speaker B:Holy cow.
Speaker B:Thank you, Jesus.
Speaker B:I've even been told, and more than one church, that many traditional mainline churches speaking tongues ended with the apostles.
Speaker B:Now folks, everything I just said, none of that is scriptural period.
Speaker B:It's not in the Bible.
Speaker B:This stuff was going to end.
Speaker B:Many churches teach Jesus said, Mark, chapter 16, verse 17, these signs shall follow the apostles until they die out.
Speaker B:And the apostles will speak in tongues as evidence, but after that, when they die off, tongues will cease.
Speaker B:Is that in the Bible?
Speaker B:No, no, but that's what a lot of churches say.
Speaker B:Well, now all that tongue talking stuff and all the supernatural stuff, that was just for the apostles to get the church started.
Speaker B:When they died off, then all that died off with.
Speaker B:Because now we have the word of God.
Speaker B:Is that what the Bible says?
Speaker B:No.
Speaker B:Jesus said, these signs.
Speaker B:These signs shall follow those who believe in my name.
Speaker B:They'll cast out demons in my name.
Speaker B:They'll speak with new tongues.
Speaker B:Who said that?
Speaker B:Jesus.
Speaker B:Hello.
Speaker B:Did Jesus ever say, and then after the last apostle dies, they'll cease?
Speaker B:No.
Speaker B:Well, brother Baba, I know that somewhere in the Bible it says tongues will cease.
Speaker B:I mean, our pastor said so.
Speaker B:Yep, yep, sure did.
Speaker B:It does say that.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:First Corinthians, chapter 13, verse 8.
Speaker B:Your beloved apostle Paul, remember him?
Speaker B:Kind of hit hard on him a couple weeks back.
Speaker B:Go back and listen to the past couple of weeks sermons.
Speaker B:You're gonna hear Paul.
Speaker B:Paul's job was to confirm the Old Testament talked about Jesus.
Speaker B:That was his job.
Speaker B:All right, okay, I don't have time to rehash all that again, but just go back and listen to those episodes because I don't have time today to explain his role in the Gospel.
Speaker B:But it was to confirm to the Jewish people Jesus was the Messiah and to tie what Jesus said, did and taught back to the Old Testament as proof he's the Messiah.
Speaker B:But Paul, about what we just said, Paul wrote, love never fails.
Speaker B:But if there are gifts of prophecy, they'll be done away.
Speaker B:If there's tongues, they will cease.
Speaker B:If there's knowledge, it'll be done away.
Speaker B:And they'll say, see, See, see, I told you it was in the Bible.
Speaker B:Tongues would stop.
Speaker B:All that stuff's no good anymore.
Speaker B:No.
Speaker B:A lot of theologians believe that means when the apostles died off, tongues ceased.
Speaker B:But just wait a minute now.
Speaker B:Did prophecy die out?
Speaker B:Huh?
Speaker B:Is there no longer any use for prophecy in today's time?
Speaker B:No.
Speaker B:Did love die out?
Speaker B:Are we no longer supposed to love one another?
Speaker B:I mean, the disciples died.
Speaker B:So all of those things that Paul talked about surely are no longer to be used in the church.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:And I have to say, a lot of churches reflect that.
Speaker B:Oh, and let's not forget about knowledge, because we talked about knowledge of the Bible and what Jesus taught.
Speaker B:I mean, we definitely, definitely, we don't need that anymore because that's not in a lot of churches today.
Speaker B:In fact, we could just about really, if you want to get down to it, toss out this whole Bible because Jesus came to fulfill the Old Testament law.
Speaker B:So we don't need that anymore.
Speaker B:We don't need the Old Testament anymore.
Speaker B:The disciples, well, now the disciples, they're only meant to confirm that Jesus was the Messiah.
Speaker B:And once they died off, we don't need any prophecy, knowledge, tongues, or any other gift anymore.
Speaker B:So we just toss out this whole Bible and go on with our feel good messages.
Speaker B:Is that how you're reading what the beloved Apostle Paul wrote?
Speaker B:That's pretty evident in some churches today.
Speaker B:What?
Speaker B:Oh, wait, wait a minute.
Speaker B:That's not what those verses mean.
Speaker B:Those things did not die off with the apostles, folks.
Speaker B:Okay, I'm sorry, I thought that's what the theologians said about tongues.
Speaker B:Oh, it was only tongues that had to die off.
Speaker B:Okay, I get you.
Speaker B:Why is that?
Speaker B:Why is it just tongues had to die out?
Speaker B:It's because tongues are evidence.
Speaker B:Of what?
Speaker B:Being filled with the Holy Spirit.
Speaker B:So that means with that mentality, if tongues were to cease, that means that the Holy Spirit's Job's done too.
Speaker B:And if that's the case, that means we don't need prophecy anymore, so we can scratch all that out of the Bible.
Speaker B:And so we don't need prophecy, we don't need knowledge anymore, so we can take all that out of the Bible too.
Speaker B:Which means really that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is now over.
Speaker B:Which means basically, if I'm hearing you correctly, pastor, professor, theologian, we are all finished with sharing the gospel.
Speaker B:Well, praise God so we can end all of this right now.
Speaker B:No wonder your church is empty.
Speaker B:You're done.
Speaker B:You're finished.
Speaker B:No wonder you're not seeing the great works done like you did in the past.
Speaker B:No wonder nobody wants to listen to you anymore because it's already too late.
Speaker B:All the work's been accomplished.
Speaker B:We're finished.
Speaker B:We're just waiting for Jesus to come back.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:Those that get born again, they're good to go.
Speaker B:Because you know, those that not have been born again as of now or whenever you.
Speaker B:In fact, if tongues and the gifts of the Spirit ceased with the apostles, we are living a lie.
Speaker B:Because that means if you were not born again before the apostles died off, you have no hope whatsoever.
Speaker B:You're just believing a lie.
Speaker B:You're not born again.
Speaker B:Your grandma wasn't born again, your great grandma's grandma was not born again, your kids have no hope of ever being born again.
Speaker B:And basically this show is over.
Speaker B:We can just wrap this whole thing up.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Why are you saying that, Brother Bao?
Speaker B:Well, that's how you interpret the Bible.
Speaker B:Actually it's because you have misinterpreted the scripture about tongues dying out, miracles dying out when the apostles died out.
Speaker B:You can't pick and choose, folks.
Speaker B:Either Jesus meant what he said or Jesus lied.
Speaker B:Or it's possible maybe Paul messed it up.
Speaker B:Or it's possible some well meaning theologian misinterpreted what Paul meant because it didn't fit with his theologians philosophical outlook on the gospel.
Speaker B:Then he, the theologian and his buddies got together and they held a conference, said, well, this is what Paul really meant.
Speaker B:I can hear some of you right now.
Speaker B:Blasphemy.
Speaker B:Blasphemy.
Speaker B:Blasphemy.
Speaker B:Pastor Bob just said the Apostle Paul messed up.
Speaker B:That's blasphemy.
Speaker B:Well, are you saying you're smarter than the Apostle Paul?
Speaker B:No, no, no, no.
Speaker B:What I'm saying is.
Speaker B:Let me put it like this.
Speaker B:What did Jesus say?
Speaker B:What about what he said?
Speaker B:Heaven and earth will pass away.
Speaker B:My words will never pass away.
Speaker B:What else did he say?
Speaker B:Whoever believes in me will do the works I've been doing.
Speaker B:And they will do even greater works than these.
Speaker B: John: Speaker B:He didn't say only the apostles would do those works.
Speaker B:No, he didn't say this would only be for a limited time, guys, get done what you can.
Speaker B:No, he said, whosoever believes in me, that includes me, it includes you, it includes us.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Jesus never spoke in tongues, Brother Bob.
Speaker B:Oh, really?
Speaker B:I'm so glad you brought that up.
Speaker B:Thank you, Holy Spirit.
Speaker B:Let me just say this before.
Speaker B:Where I show you.
Speaker B:He did.
Speaker B:But first, let me ask you this question.
Speaker B:What is the Trinity?
Speaker B:Halloween, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Speaker B:They are what, three in one?
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:Okay, so three in one.
Speaker B:Jesus had the Holy Spirit in him as part of his being.
Speaker B:I mean, that was evidence that his baptism.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:When John saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove.
Speaker B:Now turn with me.
Speaker B:Here we go back to the book of John.
Speaker B:Again, turn with me to John, chapter 11.
Speaker B:John, chapter 11.
Speaker B:Hallelujah.
Speaker B:We're going to look at verse 33.
Speaker B:When Jesus, though this is the death of Lazarus, has been dead four days already.
Speaker B:Jesus now showing up.
Speaker B:They take him to the grave site.
Speaker B:He sees the.
Speaker B:The grief going on, everyone crying.
Speaker B:And verse three.
Speaker B:See, when Jesus therefore saw her weeping Mary, right?
Speaker B:And the Jews also weeping, which came with her, he groaned and in the Spirit and was troubled.
Speaker B:He groaned in the Spirit.
Speaker B:He didn't say he groaned.
Speaker B:He didn't start crying.
Speaker B:Says he groaned in the Spirit.
Speaker B:Why is that important?
Speaker B:Okay, let's look at it again.
Speaker B:Jesus therefore saw her, Mary weeping and the Jews also weeping, which came with her.
Speaker B:He groaned in the Spirit and was troubled.
Speaker B:Now, let me stop right there.
Speaker B:Many people, many theologians will say it was because he was grieved in the Spirit.
Speaker B:Okay, I can agree with that to a point.
Speaker B:But follow my thought.
Speaker B:Now, when you pray in tongues, I hope you pray in tongues.
Speaker B:But when you pray in tongues, it's just rambling.
Speaker B:If you're not praying for a reason, pass the Bob.
Speaker B:Prays in tongues.
Speaker B:But not like some teach where, you know, you just do it to be doing it.
Speaker B:Okay, well, I got done with my Bible study and I got done praying for my family.
Speaker B:Let me take the next 15 minutes.
Speaker B:Just pray in tongues.
Speaker B:Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Speaker B:No, no, no, no.
Speaker B:Thousand times no.
Speaker B:When I pray in tongues, it is for a reason.
Speaker B:99% of the time is to seek guidance upon something.
Speaker B:And I don't need to pray for 15, 20 minutes.
Speaker B:Normally, if I'm going to do this, it's brief.
Speaker B:I Mean, it could be 30 seconds, maybe a minute, sometimes 15 seconds.
Speaker B:Because I'm seeking that guidance from the Holy Spirit, what I need to do.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:I don't have to pray for an hour, I don't have to pray for 15, anything like that.
Speaker B:Most often it's just a few seconds seeking guidance.
Speaker B:And guess what?
Speaker B:When I do that, that guidance comes.
Speaker B:That's what Jesus did.
Speaker B:He may have been greed because of the grief he was witnessing.
Speaker B:We know he knew what he was going to do because he told his disciples, what he's going to do is we need to go raise Lazarus up.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:So why did he have to groan in the Spirit?
Speaker B:Well, the theologians will tell you is because everyone, he's witnessing the grief all around him.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Well, for those around him that were going to witness what was about to happen, but yet they still would not believe.
Speaker B:You can read it yourself because if you keep reading, that's what it says happened.
Speaker B:They all ran off, told the Pharisees what Jesus just did, right?
Speaker B:So he's grieving.
Speaker B:Not because Lazarus was dead, not because Mary and Martha and all that and all the people around there were sad that Lazarus had died.
Speaker B:He was grieving because he knew what they were just about to witness.
Speaker B:They're just gonna run off and not believe any of it.
Speaker B:That's exactly what happened.
Speaker B:Okay, but we have here, the point I'm trying to make is this.
Speaker B:The disciples had never heard Jesus pray like that.
Speaker B:He never prayed in tongues around them.
Speaker B:He'd always separate.
Speaker B:Remember, he said he'd go off by himself to pray here.
Speaker B:He's surrounded by people, but he needs wisdom right now.
Speaker B:They've never heard speaking in tongues.
Speaker B:That's why when all this happened in the book of Acts, you know, it surprised them too, I guess you could say, okay, but with Jesus, that came from his innermost being.
Speaker B:And that's where the Holy Spirit was dwelling in the innermost being of Jesus.
Speaker B:And since they never heard anything like that before, they only could describe it as a groaning.
Speaker B:They had no idea he was speaking in tongues to allow the Holy Spirit to say something.
Speaker B:Anyway, off the topic.
Speaker B:Well, not really, but okay.
Speaker B:It says Holy Spirit said.
Speaker B:Okay, Bob, you made your point.
Speaker B:Let's move on.
Speaker B:Okay, so if we are truly disciples of Jesus and we're called to walk in the same power he demonstrated, so why aren't we seeing it?
Speaker B:Because we've stopped expecting it.
Speaker B:We've allowed skepticism, fear, a modern day powerless religion to replace faith in God's word.
Speaker B:But the truth remains, folks, if we return to the words of Jesus, we will also return to his power.
Speaker B:So what was the third command Jesus gave to the church?
Speaker B:To freely give what you have freely received.
Speaker B:Jesus just didn't tell his disciples to do these things.
Speaker B:He told them, do it free, freely you've received, freely give.
Speaker B:Matthew 10:8.
Speaker B:In other words, it isn't about making money off this deal.
Speaker B:It isn't about selling anointing oil.
Speaker B:It's not about selling your books.
Speaker B:It's not about selling handkerchiefs that you pray prayed over.
Speaker B:It's about.
Speaker B:It's not about charging people for their healings.
Speaker B:It's not about building up a personal empire.
Speaker B:There have been some modern day ministries that have done that.
Speaker B:Yeah, I know some still do it today.
Speaker B:Some say that's the only way we can build the ministry.
Speaker B:Well, that's not what Jesus said to do.
Speaker B:He gave specific instructions to his disciples to how to do ministry, didn't he?
Speaker B:That's about giving to others what Jesus has already given to us.
Speaker B:Jesus never charged anyone for a miracle, right?
Speaker B:He never sold tickets to his sermons.
Speaker B:Jesus never asked for money before healing people.
Speaker B:He simply gave what the Father gave him.
Speaker B:And then he commanded us to do what?
Speaker B:Go do the same thing.
Speaker B:So the question I have for you today is this.
Speaker B:Are we obeying these commands, Pastor?
Speaker B:Are we?
Speaker B:This is where we need to take an honest look in the mirror, folks.
Speaker B:Are we truly preaching the kingdom of God or we just preaching these feel good messages?
Speaker B:Are we demonstrating the power of God?
Speaker B:Are we sold out for a powerless religion?
Speaker B:Are we freely giving what we've received?
Speaker B:Have we turned the gospel into a business?
Speaker B:Because Jesus was very, very clear in his instructions to us.
Speaker B:John 14, verse 15 says, if you love me, keep my commands.
Speaker B:That means if we ignore his words, if we replace his words with our own preferences, if we water down his message, then we are disobeying Him.
Speaker B:Listen to me now, when you do that, there is no revival, none, no revival without returning to the words of Jesus.
Speaker B:You cannot do anything of value for the kingdom of God without the words of Jesus.
Speaker B:And where can we find the words of Jesus?
Speaker B:The Bible in the red letter words.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:Pastor Bob came full circle today.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:We're right back to where we started.
Speaker B:What did Jesus say?
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:If we want to see God's power return to the church, we must return to Jesus words and obey them.
Speaker B:So my challenge to you today is this.
Speaker B:Do you want to obey Jesus?
Speaker B:Really is.
Speaker B:Will you obey Jesus?
Speaker B:Will you return to his words?
Speaker B:What will you obey his commands or not.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Because he is coming back, and he's coming back very soon.
Speaker B:And when he does, he is looking for a people who've done one thing.
Speaker B:Obey his words.
Speaker B:Now, if you don't know his words, how are you going to obey him?
Speaker B:Which type of person are you going to be?
Speaker B:The person who says to him, lord, Lord, didn't I prophesy in your name and cast out demons in your name and do many mighty works in your name?
Speaker B:Folks, we don't need a message on how to live our best life.
Speaker B:Be a better you.
Speaker B:Are you going to be those people?
Speaker B:Are we.
Speaker B:Are we going to be the person, the people, the church that Jesus says, well done, my good and faithful servant.
Speaker B:You've been faithful with just a few things.
Speaker B:Now I'm going to put you in charge of many things.
Speaker B:Enter into the joy of your master.
Speaker B:Are we just going to appear in front of Jesus and hear him say, well, how?
Speaker B:How will you know what to do?
Speaker B:Again, you got to go back to reading what Jesus said.
Speaker B:Now, once again, I'm about out of time here, but let me say this.
Speaker B:I'm not saying that the entire Bible, other than the red letter words, is useless.
Speaker B:I am not saying that at all.
Speaker B:I am saying that what the apostles wrote, what Paul wrote, must back up what Jesus said.
Speaker B:In fact.
Speaker B:Okay, I'll do that.
Speaker B:Let's see what your Apostle Paul had to say about this.
Speaker B:Turn with me to second Timothy, chapter three.
Speaker B:Second Timothy, chapter.
Speaker B:I was just reading this this morning.
Speaker B:Okay, I want you to see this.
Speaker B:Second Timothy, chapter three.
Speaker B:And we're going to read down a little bit into chapter four as well.
Speaker B:I want you to see this.
Speaker B:This.
Speaker B:Also know that in the last days, perilous times will come.
Speaker B:Men will be lovers of their own selves.
Speaker B:Covetous boasters.
Speaker B:Proud blasphemers.
Speaker B:Disobedient to their parents.
Speaker B:Unthankful.
Speaker B:Unholy, with no natural affection.
Speaker B:Truce breakers.
Speaker B:False accusers.
Speaker B:Incontinent, fierce despisers of those who are doing good.
Speaker B:Man, that sounds just like the day and time in which we live today, doesn't it?
Speaker B:Proud blasphemers.
Speaker B:Disobedient to parents.
Speaker B:Unthankful.
Speaker B:Oh, boy.
Speaker B:Unholy.
Speaker B:Truly no natural affection.
Speaker B:Truce breakers.
Speaker B:You make a promise, you just break it.
Speaker B:False accusers.
Speaker B:Man, he's seen that just in this last, you know, four years here in the United States.
Speaker B:Incontinent, fierce despisers of those who are trying to do good.
Speaker B:That sounds just like the left doesn't it traitors.
Speaker B:Heady.
Speaker B:High minded.
Speaker B:They're stuck up on themselves.
Speaker B:Lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God.
Speaker B:You see that in society.
Speaker B:Having a form of godliness, but denying the power of God.
Speaker B:There's the church.
Speaker B:From such turn away.
Speaker B:Oh, what you gonna do now, Pastor?
Speaker B:For of this sword are they which creep into houses and.
Speaker B:And lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away by diverse lusts.
Speaker B:Why did he single out women there?
Speaker B:Because women rule their household anyway.
Speaker B:Ever learning.
Speaker B:Always wanting to learn more, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Speaker B:The truth.
Speaker B:Truth.
Speaker B:Truth.
Speaker B:There's that word, truth.
Speaker B:What did Jesus say?
Speaker B:I am the truth and life.
Speaker B:What did Jesus say?
Speaker B:His words are truth.
Speaker B:So he says here.
Speaker B:Ever learning, never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Speaker B:Never able to come to the knowledge of the word of God.
Speaker B:Think about that.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:Gonna wrap this up here soon.
Speaker B:Verse 8.
Speaker B:Now, as Janice and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the Word, the truth.
Speaker B:Men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
Speaker B:But they'll proceed no further, for their folly shall be manifested to all men, as theirs also was Janus and Jambres.
Speaker B:But you have faithfully known my doctrine.
Speaker B:You faithfully know my teachings, my manner of life, my purpose, my faith, longsuffering, charity and patience.
Speaker B:Persecutions, afflictions which came to me at Antioch and Iconium and Lycyra.
Speaker B:What persecutions I endured.
Speaker B:But out of them all the Lord delivered me.
Speaker B:Yes, and all that will live godly in Christ shall also suffer persecution.
Speaker B:Oh, boy, that's a good message for today, isn't it?
Speaker B:Instead of, well, don't make waves, you know, just live your faith so they can see it.
Speaker B:But don't make waves.
Speaker B:Evil men, seducers, shall grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
Speaker B:But you should continue to.
Speaker B:And the things which you've learned have been assured of knowing of whom you've learned them.
Speaker B:That from a child.
Speaker B:He's talking to Timothy here.
Speaker B:From a child.
Speaker B:You have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Speaker B:All scripture is given by the inspiration of God.
Speaker B:And it's profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction and righteousness.
Speaker B:See that colon means so that instruction in righteous.
Speaker B:So that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished for all good works.
Speaker B:Chapter four, verse one.
Speaker B:I charge you, therefore, before God, before the Lord Jesus Christ.
Speaker B:Drop down to verse two.
Speaker B:Preach the word.
Speaker B:Preach the Word.
Speaker B:Who's the word Jesus.
Speaker B:How are you going to preach Jesus?
Speaker B:You have to go see what Jesus said when you do that.
Speaker B:It says, be instant in season, be the same all the time.
Speaker B:Preach what Jesus had to say all the time.
Speaker B:That's what your beloved apostle Paul has been trying to get across, and these theologians have misinterpreted it.
Speaker B:Don't shut me down.
Speaker B:I'm preaching.
Speaker B:Good.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:Preach the word that Jesus said in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke.
Speaker B:That's what I'm doing right now.
Speaker B:Exhort with all long suffering and doctrine, for the time will come.
Speaker B:Well, they will not endure that sound doctrine, but after their own lusts, they'll heap to themselves.
Speaker B:Teachers having itchy ears.
Speaker B:That's what we've been talking about all day today.
Speaker B:Don't shout me down.
Speaker B:Say Amen somebody somewhere, and they'll turn away from the truth, folks.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:Hallelujah.
Speaker B:Whoo.
Speaker B:Go back and listen to that again.
Speaker B:Replay what we just did.
Speaker B:This sounds exactly like the day and time in which we live today.
Speaker B:Even the part about making it manifested in the last days.
Speaker B:Can you say Doge?
Speaker B:Huh?
Speaker B:Elon, Musk and Doge.
Speaker B:Go back and listen to the past few weeks where I taught on this stuff.
Speaker B:It's being exposed left and right, the corruption going on, but the emphasis, the primary focus must be on what did Jesus say?
Speaker B:And that can only be the words in red.
Speaker B:So the choice is yours.
Speaker B:Remember, Jesus did not just tell us what to do.
Speaker B:He gave us the power to do it.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:If what I've shared with you today has resonated with you, I want to invite you to do two things.
Speaker B:First and foremost, receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, because he did it all for you.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:In fact, just pray this short prayer with me right now, out loud.
Speaker B:At least loud enough for your own two ears to hear.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:Just say, Father, in Jesus name, I thank you for this word.
Speaker B:I thank you Jesus became flesh.
Speaker B:I thank you for Jesus being my Savior.
Speaker B:And Lord Jesus, I thank you for saving me, dying in my behalf so I don't have to.
Speaker B:Lord, forgive me of my sins.
Speaker B:Come into my heart.
Speaker B:Created me this new man, this new spirit man that loves you and loves your word.
Speaker B:Help me to dive back into your Word and learn it all over again.
Speaker B:I praise you for it.
Speaker B:In Jesus name.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:You prayed that.
Speaker B:Email me@Brother BobDFM.org I want to rejoice with you.
Speaker B:That said two things, right?
Speaker B:All right, so I want to invite you to participate with me right now in a special project to get the word out about the red words of Jesus into all the earth.
Speaker B:What Jesus actually said.
Speaker B:To do that we're invite you to click a link that'll be down the show notes or comment section.
Speaker B:Look at a very special offer where you can be blessed also by being a blessing as well.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:We are all out of time for today.
Speaker B:Oh man.
Speaker B:Pastor Bob had a good time today.
Speaker B:I pray you got a lot out of this message.
Speaker B:I know I did.
Speaker B:Even as I was preaching it, the Lord was showing me stuff.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:Hallelujah.
Speaker B:I can't wait for the next session because we're going to go even deeper into what we talked about today.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Praise God.
Speaker B:Oh man.
Speaker B:Again, if you have questions you see Jesus Savior, email me at brother bob@s.org Till next time, Pastor Bob, reminding you to be blessed.
